"Children send Christmas cards and Martenitsas to coevals in Mumbai" by Nelly Piguleva Yesterday students from the secondary school "Yordan Yovkov" prepared Christmas cards with greetings in English, drawings and applications of a snowy winter. The greeting cards will be sent on December 1 to the distant Indian city of Mumbai in which the main office of one of the biggest humanitarian organizations is situated. Its name is "Robin Hood". This was exclusively reported to "Utro" by Nataliya Lukova from "Association of Ruse in help for society and young people" (RAPO). The organization's idea about the cards originates from the International Day for Tolerance. "We decided that cards and sweets are the best way to tell the little Indian children about our holidays in Bulgaria" said Nataliya. In fact, she is a graduate of "Yordan Yovkov" and this is the reason why she reached out to the school to implement her idea. The students from Ruse had been preparing the cards for a long time according to the school's principal, Elenka Dimitrova. Along with the cards, they also created Martenitsas. "In the package for Mumbai we will put the Martenitsas, too." said Nataliya Lukova. She also explained that since the package has a long way to go, the children from India will be introduced to the Bulgarian way of celebrating Christmas and the welcoming of Baba Marta at the same time. * English translation - Стилян Иванов (Stilyan Ivanov) - volunteer in Associatioon of Ruse in help of society and young people
